We had our second-to-the-last two-week check-up yesterday. We have another two-weeker on July 15th and, after that, we go in once a week until Bunny is here. That mean's there'll only by 4 weeks left!! AUGH!!
The appointment went really well. We asked a lot of questions and got a lot of answers. We are on board with everything Dr. H. said except for one thing. When I asked when and how she would induce labor if the need arose, she said one week after my due date and that she uses Cytotec. You know me, uber-organized and research-happy, so I researched the drug as soon as I got out of the appointment. It didn't take long for me to realize that Cytotec was NOT an option for inducing my labor. We will inform Dr. H. at our next appointment that we refuse its use if an induction is necessary, armed, of course, with copies of the FDA warning and several other medical journals that support our case. Our real prayer, though, is that she will come on her own without medical intervention!
Speaking of medical intervention, we had our first indication that we may need a c-section to get Bunny out if she doesn't scootch over into my pelvis. Right now, she is head-down, but her head is pretty much stuck in my left hip. Her little heinie is up underneath my right breast. Dr. H. has hopes that she will slide over if I do a few exercises and more walking to let gravity pull her down. We will be checking her size (I'm still measuring big) and position with an ultrasound on the 15th, so we'll have a better idea of what's going on then. If Bunny is still crooked at that point, Dr. H. is going to see if another doctor she knows will come and try to manually move Bunny over. Unfortunately, Dr. H. is not trained in the procedure herself. If all of that fails to slide Bunny into my pelvic opening, our only option will be a c-section as I will not dilate without Bunny's head applying pressure. Again, our ultimate prayer is that, through exercise and gravity, Bunny will slide into place without any medical intervention.
We are getting very excited at how close we are to meeting our daughter. I just can't wait to love on her and kiss her fat cheeks!! MM is also ecstatic and finished tying the last fly for some wall decor for her nursery. Our little girl better be quite the angler or her dad is going to be really bummed! As much as we both love the water and love to fish, though, I don't see how she can avoid loving it, too.
Papaw and Mimi will probably be here by this time tomorrow and we will be busy getting the nursery finished with their help. I can't wait to see them as it's the last time we're likely to see any family until after Bunny is born. After that, they'll be coming to see her and not us, so I'll have to take advantage of my parents being parents and not grandparents while they're here!
Due to the recent wildfires in our area, it's illegal to even have a fireworks stand in the county this year, so the celebrations will be muted at best. That's fine with us as we'll probably be tired from the nursery work and will just want to enjoy a quiet evening with the family.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and ask that you send up prayers that a.) Bunny will slide into a position that will allow for a vaginal delivery and that b.) she will come into this world by Sunday, August 21 so that we can avoid induction!! Thanks!
God Bless You and Happy 4th of July!! YAY AMERICA!!
