Poor little Bunny and I are at home not feeling well today. We just woke up from a nice, cozy two-hour nap. She is a ball of energy and I, of course, am a zombie on the recliner, ready to sleep for another two hours! It's amazing how much energy she has, even when she's not feeling 100%.
MM and I have been spending a lot of time building up our marriage lately. We are acutely aware that, no matter how perfect our marriage seems, there is always room to improve. I found this blog post on Pinterest a few weeks ago and printed the questions out for MM and I to use on date nights. After spending an entire dinner asking each other these and other questions, I realized they were great questions for any two people getting to get know each other better. (Although, admittedly, there are a few of those questions that are only meant for a husband and wife, so I'll leave those out today!) So, here are a few of those questions, and my answers....enjoy!
1. How much sleep do you need?
Being the mother of a 6.5 month old has taught me that I can function on only 4 hours of sleep, but it's not pretty. 6 hours of sleep produces much, much better results. If I'm honest, though, my optimal amount of sleep is a solid 8 hours. I have, of course, resigned myself to not getting that every night for the next few years. The rewards of being a Mommy are well worth it.
2. What do you believe to be your spiritual gifts?
Definitely the gift of giving. God blessed MM and I with the same gift and we are constantly burdened by the needs of those around us. It has gotten to the point before where we've had to sit down and take a hard look at ourselves to remember that we can't give everything we have, that we have our own needs to be met, too.
3. What are your 5 favorite foods, with the most favorite first?
A smorgasbord of Japanese and Hawaiian cuisine as prepared by my Baba (maternal grandmother), a great grilled steak, pumpkin cheesecake, mango, and just about anything chocolate!
4. What do you fear the most?
Losing Bunny and/or MM.
5. What is your favorite color?
Red. All the way.
6. What do you look forward to the most?
The day I can leave my job to become a stay-at-home and homeschooling mother.
7. How do you prepare for the future?
Plan, plan, plan! I am a planner of the highest order. I over-plan EVERYTHING. And that's usually a mistake because God, spouses, children, and just life in general love to throw a kink in my plans, and I'm sure that's how it is for all my fellow planners out there.
8. What is your highest priority in life?
Raising a Godly family and spreading His message as far and as wide as He has called me to.
9. What are 5 things, if money weren't an object, that you would like to own before you expire?
A restored Airstream travel trailer, This autographed book of art from Tim Burton, This master bedroom for MM and I to retreat to, a restored 1970 - 1975 Ford pickup to haul the Airstream with, and unlimited access to all the scrapbooking supplies that are available in the entire world whenever I want.
10. Where do you see your family in 5 years?
I hope to have another kiddo or two, and be preparing to start homeschooling Bunny. That means, of course, that I will be a stay-at-home mother then. I also see us being solid and active members of a good church family. (I also see us living closer to some of our family, but that isn't a "future plan", it's just a hope and dream of mine.)
So, those are my questions and answers for today. As some of you may notice, this post didn't go public until Tuesday rather than Monday, but that's life for ya!
Weekly goals:
1. Take time to truly celebrate MM's birthday this week.
2. Brainstorm as many ways as possible for our family to cut back on expenses...got to tackle that debt snowball!
3. Keep spending quality time in God's word, both on my own and as a family. It has really blessed us!
4. Finish organizing things. The next 7 months are crazy-hectic and I need to have things in order!
5. Live and love like there's no tomorrow. There may not be!

Get-To-Know-Me Monday, #2
I really enjoyed doing the mini-questionnaire last week and even had a fellow blog/real life friend answer all of the questions on her blog! (Thanks, Michelle! It was fun reading your answers!) Sometimes it's hard coming up with questions, but I find it makes it easier if I think about what I would like to know about fellow bloggers. I also make sure that I mix it up...it's nicer to have a post of funny/trivial questions mixed with serious questions. It makes coming up with answers much more interesting!
How do you feel today? Tired. And cranky. And like my head is going to explode. I have a mammoth sinus headache today. I'm also seriously lacking in the motivation department.
Favorite facial moisturizer: Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream. It doesn't offer any sun protection, which I know I need to address, but it keeps my skin moisturized in this dry climate and keeps the eczema on my face and hands from rearing its ugly head.
What are your most enjoyable moments as a parent? Being able to breastfeed has led to some really beautiful bonding moments with Bunny. Right now she's being such a sweetheart while nursing that it just melts my heart. Before she latches on to really eat, she takes a few seconds to look up at me, smile, and sometimes touch my face. It immediately erases any negativity that I've been carrying around.
Favorite vacation spot: I couldn't pick just one. We love going to Ruidoso, NM. It's a pleasant place that's touristy, but not too crowded, and breathtakingly beautiful. We also love going to the Texas Gulf Coast. It is familiar, but still exhilarating. It feels like we're going home, but without responsibilities.
Cell phone: basic ringer or song? Basic ringer for both MM and I. We decided a while back (MM first, then I followed his lead), that we were adults and professionals and that our ring tones should acknowledge that.
Favorite Bible verse: Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
How does your daily routine go? Wake up - 6 am, nurse Bunny or pump if she's still asleep, eat breakfast, get ready for work, get Bunny ready for day, take Bunny to daycare, go to work, work, pump, eat lunch, work, pump, work, pick up Bunny, start dinner or feed Bunny dinner (MM does whichever I don't do), eat dinner, help MM with clean-up if he needs it, do some laundry, cuddle/play with Bunny, nurse or pump again, wash bottles from day, nurse or pump before bed, bed. Phew!
Favorite television guilty pleasure: I have so many! I'd have to say My Fair Wedding on WE tv. David Tutera is so stinking clever and seems to genuinely love his brides (although I am not naive enough to think that it's all real and no acting.) But I do love a good wedding and I love even more when a gal with modest wedding plans has the blow-out of her dreams.
What do you enjoy most as a parent? Late night cuddles, early morning chat sessions, and this smile:
