SICK!

I was a bit sick yesterday. Not the flu, allergies, or anything, just SICK. While I was doing some things around the house, I realized that there are definite lines that can be crossed when you're at home sick. Here's a short list of my dos and don'ts.

DO: Wear some knit gloves after slathering on some moisturizing hand salve to let it really soak in.
DON'T: Wear some knit gloves because you're out of Kleenex.

DO: Pick up the house a bit. Nobody wants to have to clean up your dirty snot rags.
DON'T: Reorganize all the kitchen cabinets. Nobody wants to wash every now-infected dish you own.

DO: Run your car through the car wash after your doctor's appt. to get all of that nasty pollen and dust off.
DON'T: Hand wash your car when it's 40 degrees outside. (That's probably a fairly good rule even when you're not sick.)

DO: Ask your loved ones for a little assistance now and then. They really don't mind bringing you some medicine and a cup of hot tea.
DON'T: Employ a bell, buzzer, or drum to have your loved ones at your beck and call unless you're absolutely incapacitated. They do mind that. And will pay you back ten-fold the next time they get sick.

DO: Tell the doc you're concerned about possible drug interactions.
DON'T: Tell the doc about your family's drama-filled interactions.

DO: Call your boss and let them know you're sick.
DON'T: Text your coworker and ask them to tell your boss that you're sick.

DO: Get lots of rest, but make sure you're not on your back too much; being a little bit active (like a nice, leisurely walk) can speed up recovery by boosting endorphins.
DON'T: Run the Boston Marathon.

DO: Start rescheduling missed appointments and obligations.
DON'T: Have your lunch-meetings come over for chicken noodle soup and Dayquil. Not cool.

Well, there you have it. My list for the times when you're laid up sick in bed. Any others you can think of? I'm sure there are more!!

Sick Day

Being stuck at home all day is rather boring, especially when there's nothing to do. I can't clean or go workout or do any thing NOT boring, so I decided to improve my home work space. I've been wanting a bulletin board in the home office/ craft room/ guest room, but there's no suitable wall space near my desk where it would be most needed. But, I do have this great big cabinet (full of craft supplies, of course)!

So, I thought I could improve the blank space and make it a little more utilitarian as well.

I purchased some cork board tiles to pin craft projects to (leather necklaces, pieced fabric items, etc.,). I really only need one at a time because one of my new crafting goals is to only have on project going at a time. So, these fully functional mini-bulletin boards were born!

All I did was glue some cute ribbon from the dollar bin at Michael's to the cork boards and presto! In hindsight, I could have just pinned the ribbon on with cute push pins so that the ribbon could be changed to suit my mood or decor, but maybe next time! Lol!

And here they are, in use and ready for more inspirational clippings!

So, not the most productive day, but not too bad for a sick day!
