God Sends Us What We Need

As is usually the case, breakfast was a rushed affair for me this morning. Fortunately, I had the foresight last night to chop up my omelet veggies and get the coffee maker set up. By the time breakfast was cooked and my coffee was poured, I figured that I had 7.5 minutes to eat and move on to the next pre-work task. I'd usually just go sit at the coffee table for such a short breakfast, but I felt the need to go sit at the computer instead. Even in something as simple as a breakfast decision, God went before me and set my place.

I fired up the internet and went straight to my reader to catch up on all my blogs. The first one was a humorous post about World of War Craft beer steins. Good, great, funny, and easy enough to scroll through while I munched on my bacon. The next post was from the Stuff Christians Like (SCL) blog by Jon Acuff.

If you've never taken a gander at SCL, I think it'd be worth your time. In general, it's full of humorous musings about life as a Christian that I think a lot of people can relate to such as Fall Retreats, Sermon-Snoozers, and etc. Wednesdays, though, are reserved for serious posts on SCL, and most of Mr. Acuff's insights are interesting, consistently refreshing, and usually convicting.

This morning, however, I was in a rush, so I started reading the post, but quickly began to scroll down to the next one. Suddenly, I was led to stop that scroll wheel and head back up to the SCL post. What could I do at that point, but read the whole thing? I am so thankful that I did because God used that moment to comfort me and remind me that He has plans for me that I just cannot fathom. I don't want to steal Mr. Acuff's post, so I'll just let you read it for yourself: "The Soft X".

After reading the post, I realized something amazing; I am a part of a growing online genre that gets its information, entertainment, and sometimes even friendships, via the internet and God is changing how He communicates with us to reach us where we will be the most receptive. He wants to comfort us, take away our worries, and lead us to the life He has planned and will even use the internet to do so. Isn't it just awesome how much we matter to a God so big?!

Now, I know that post may not have been what God is pointing you to today, but I know that I was meant to read it. You see, it doesn't matter to God where, when, why, or through whom He has to reach us, He will. All we have to do is stop and be receptive to His Word and His Work. I feel His strong arms encircling me with every passing moment and am in awe of the lengths my God will go to in order to reach me. He knows my fears, my troubles, and my worries, and He wants desperately to comfort me and love me in a way that is specific to me. And He wants to do the same for you! Isn't it awesome?!

And, to top it all off, in spite of my worrying, I was four minutes early to work. God took care of that little detail as well.
