I've noticed a trend among my blogging pals that I think most people can relate to; when life is busy, you don't blog. Conversely, when life isn't busy, you blog. I'm the perfect example of this paradigm.
The last time I blogged was in August (!), and we've been super-swamped with things since then. I've been out of town for another course for work and MM's been out of town for deer surveys for work. We've spent a weekend installing some new interior doors. The little bit of time we have had in between has been spent barely keeping our house in order and doing a bit of relaxing. I haven't picked up a single piece of reading material that wasn't work-related and the only tv I've watched was the Cowboys game yesterday. In a nutshell, we're going CRAZAY!!
MM and I just aren't used to being so involved and it always seems to happen this time of year. We always end up traveling and entertaining more than we thought we would and we turn around one day and the fall is gone and it's time for winter! We've got this week and a free weekend, then MM is gone for a bit, relatives come twice in the month of October to visit, I go out of town for another week in October, then November rolls around and the holiday traveling starts. I'm tellin' ya, Autumn is my favorite season of all, but sometimes I can't wait for it to be over so that I can breathe.
On top of that, I've decided to spend the last few months of my twenties focusing on 6 key areas of my life that need improvement. To be honest, they are all areas that I will probably always have to work on, but I have to start somewhere!
The 6 areas are:
1. Spiritual - my personal relationship with God, my church attendance, and my quiet time.
2. Emotional - my relationship with MM, building strong friendships outside of my family, and controlling my emotions through methods other than eating.
3. Intellectual - read more, research what I want to know when I want to know it!
4. Physical - do everything I can to become more healthy, learn to LOVE me, get heart-healthy.
5. Professional - become indispensable at work, network within my field, improve my work ethic.
6. Fiscal - discover our perfect balance between "gazelle intensity" and enjoying our life now, minimize our weaknesses to reduce our risk of identity theft, fraud, etc.
I know that this is a lot for me to work on at one time, but I truly feel that they all snowball into one another. I'm relying on God to help me get my priorities straight because it is just plain human to be selfish instead. I want to build a lasting legacy for my (hopefully) future children and there's no better time than the present to start. I'm not expecting to be a perfect person on my 30th birthday next year, but I am expecting to be able to see noticeable improvements in my life.
That being said, I love blogging, but I love being busy even more. It means we're doing more and interacting with people for a change. Sometimes it makes me want to rip my hair out, but for the most part, it is a welcome change. Therefore, I will blog when a boring day presents itself. If I'm not here for a while, just remember that I'm out there living my life and will be back when it all slows down. I hope it won't...
