Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life by Barbara Kingsolver

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was written in a pleasant style that had a vintage quality to it. Barbara Kingsolver is a celebrated author, so I didn't expect anything but the best, as far as writing went, and she did not disappoint.

The subject matter was compelling. Each chapter brought to life a new desire in me to change the way I thought about the food industry and food itself. The colorful descriptions throughout the book, but in the family garden especially, caused me to yearn for the turning of the seasons when I could get back outside and in the dirt. "Locavore" status in the desert of West Texas would be hard to come by, but the information in Kingsolver's book helped me to get one step closer.

I really loved the recipes that were made available in the book as well as all of the resources that were referenced. All in all, this is a great book that I would definitely suggest to my friends.
