Catching Up

It's time to catch the blogging world up on what's been going on out here in West Texas. There's a lot, so I'll warn you now, you may be bored to death!

Friday afternoon, my paternal grandparents, "Papaw" and "Mamaw" rolled into town. It was the first time they'd been out here for quite a while and the first time they'd ever come out on their own. Friday night we had a simple dinner of peasant stew and salad and sat around the table a bit catching up on all the family news. It was a nice evening, but after rushing to get the house clean, I was exhausted, so we turned in early.

Saturday, MM was feeling very sick, so Papaw, Mamaw and I headed out to the Museum of the Big Bend. We made it through pretty quickly and it's a great spot to go for a good history of the Big Bend area. We headed home after that and were planning on driving up to Fort Davis, but MM was still sick and there was a college football game that Papaw wanted to watch, so those plans were scraped. Instead, the men stayed home and Mamaw and I headed downtown to do a little shopping.

MM was feeling a lot better Sunday morning, but didn't think he should spread his germs around church, so just Papaw, Mamaw and I went. It was a wonderful sermon by Pastor Jordan and everyone was as friendly and welcoming as usual. I know my grandparents really had a good time. We headed home for lunch and a nap and then the four of us headed up the road to see the Fort. I didn't get a lot of pictures, but here are some of them.

After the Fort, we went to the restaurant at the Hotel Limpia. I'm still convinced this is the best food in the area. It is pricey, but completely worth it. MM and I used to make the trip up about once a month, but have decided it would be better for the budget to only do it every 3 months or so. Dinner was delicious and Papaw and Mamaw seemed to enjoy it, so it was a great success!

We made it back home just in time for the guys to catch the Giants/Bears game, so they were happy. Mamaw and I were just plain exhausted, so we both lingered on the couch as long as we possibly could and then headed to bed. They left this morning as I was leaving for work and I'm going to miss them, but it was fun having them here and I'll be seeing them soon for the holidays!!

Starting this week, the schedule really starts getting packed for us. I feel like I'm going to close my eyes and open them and it'll be January 2011!! I'll be going to Zumba class with my coworker on Monday nights, will walk with my coworkers during lunches on Tuesdays and Thursdays, will meet with the coworker "support" group on Wednesdays for lunch, and go to "Fit and Free", a group that will meet at the church that will focus on healthy living on Sunday evenings. Finally, MM and I are going to start going to a couples' bible study on Wednesday nights that I'm really excited about. And all of that doesn't even include all the travel plans that we have coming up for both work and leisure.

I'm looking forward to the remainder of 2010. It looks like it will be busy, but it looks like it will be a blast and that I'll have a lot of wonderful people and experiences around me!
