Dublin Dr. Pepper

Mmmmmm. In the soda world, there's NOTHING better than a cold 8 oz. Dublin Dr. Pepper. The Friday after Thanksgiving, Dad, Mom, Karen, Jason and I piled into the truck to head to Dublin. The trip there was fun; lots of goofiness and laughter, as is to be expected when we get together. Seeing that sign on the side of the plant, though, was like the mother ship was calling us home.

We ate lunch first since we were all starving by the time we got there. After eating, we hit the tour. It's not a long tour, but it is fun. The best part of it is checking out all of the awesome Dr. Pepper paraphernalia that the owners had collected over the years. The coolest thing in there, in my humble opinion, was an apparatus used to prepare hot Dr. Pepper. That's right, hot Dr. Pepper with a squeeze of lemon juice is one of my favorite winter drinks.

We finally made it out of the tour and back to the shop where we proceeded to buy too much stuff! Jason picked up some Dr. Pepper beef jerky, which he thought was decent, and I got some Dr. Pepper lip gloss, jelly beans and some cake and icing mix. We also ended up coming home with a case of 8 oz. Dr. Peppers. I was thinking of giving some out as gifts, but that's not going to happen. Maybe next year! Lol!

Here's Karen and Jason, waiting for the rest of us to finish shopping so that we could head home. See how happy Jason is? Soda's not his thing; he just doesn't understand!

The ride home was, well, an event. It was really the first time I'd ever seen Jason on a sugar high. The man just does not like sweets. I mean, he had two sodas and a bag of candy in a two-hour period of time. He is INSANE on sweets! He was laughing at absolutely everything and it was, honestly, one of the most annoying laughs ever. I'm giggling just thinking about it. Not long after getting on the road, he crashed into a veritable sugar-coma. Ah, the peace and quiet.

The Dr. Pepper cake was made with an 8 oz. Dr. Pepper and the icing was made with 1/4 cup of Dr. Pepper. Karen and mom whipped it up the night after our road trip and it was divine. It was SO moist and chocolatey!

So, that was our trip to Dublin. I finally feel like I'm catching up! Now I just need to get back to reading all of my friends' blogs and catch up on what's going on with them.

As always, thanks for reading and have a great night!
